Dr Alam Expresses Concern over Death of AMU Student (sept. 18, 2007)

New Delhi, Sept. 18: General Secretary All India Milli Council Dr Mohammad Manzoor Alam expressed deep anguish and concern over the brutal killing of Mazhar Nayeem, a student of Aligarh Muslim University, who was allegedly stabbed to death late in the evening on September 17. Dr Alam offered condolences to Nayeem’s family and friends, and prayed for the departed soul.

In a press note, Dr Alam also expressed his concern over the arson and violence on the campus that ensued the student’s death. He said it was a matter of shame for the university community that three students were killed during the past few months. He urged the university administration to find out if there was any loophole on its part and take corrective measures. He welcomed AMU’s decision to demand for a CBI inquiry into the matter.

In another release, Dr Alam condemned the news of attack on two Christian missionaries by some the Hindu goondas in Madyaon, near Lucknow. He urged the state government to take immediate action and arrest the culprits.
