Despite threats from the Sangh Parivar to the author’s life, this book of quotable references stands upright for the truth. The Babri Masjid was demolished on December 6, 992. The shocks of this social earthquake have been felt far and wide. The shaken political order changes itself at the core. Secular forces align against Indian brand fascism. In people’s mind a vacuum is created. Innumerous questions arise. Naturally, people seek to know the facts of the case. Publication of this book is, therefore, crucial in this context.

While archaeology is in itself not absolute & is only ancillary to history, the Sangh Parivar puts forward its argument totally on the basis of archaeological evidences; but its approach is not sincere on that front also. As a touch-stone this look spells out how each clause of the universal code of ethics for archaeologists has been violated by the Sangh Parivar archaeologists and how they, specially Dr. S.R. Gupta, fabricate stories, and to sell them, indulge in different kinds of malpractice. In the process of logically refuting their case, this book fulfills the vacuum by providing invaluable and authentic information.The Masjid in question was demolished with the sole aim of destroying the archaeological evidences, which stand in the way of the Sangh Parivar’s pursuit of religious claim, in turn, its political interests. In the absence of the Masjid, documents, such as this book, have become more important & dependent.

Now, of course the domes of the Masjid have fallen down, but his book stands as high as the domes.

The Author : Sher Singh is a senior IAS Officer of West Bengal cadre. He qualified for IAS in 1972 with advanced Indian History (Mughal Period) as one of the optional subjects. He learnt that the liberal policy of Akbar was inherited by him from his grand father Babur.In February 1986 when allegations were made that Babur demolished Janamsthan temple to build a mosque at Ayodhya,Sher Singh simply could not believe it. He took up research study on Babur and his architecture to get the degree of Doctor of Literature .The three volumes on "The Secular Emperor Babur'are a part of his doctoral thesis
